Anime Characters With the ISFP Personality Type

Anime Characters With the ISFP Personality Type

ISFP individuals or Adventurers are highly interesting people. While they tend toward introversion, this doesn’t stop them from living in the moment and showing compassion to those around them.

What is an ISFP personality type?

Four letter-coded personality types come from the Four-letter Personality Type Indicator. This measure requires individuals to answer many questions that distinguish where they lie on four scales: introverted–extroverted, sensing–intuitive, thinking-feeling, and perceiving–judging.

ISFP individuals are Introverted (I), Sensing (S), Feeling (F), and Perceiving (P). Each of these traits contributes to their unique adventurer personality type, as seen below.

Introversion

The introversion–extroversion dimension concerns how you prefer to spend your energy. Introverted individuals, such as ISFPs tend to spend their energy inwardly, often thinking deeply and preferring time on their own. They’re very introspective and can get easily overwhelmed by external stimuli.

For this reason, ISFPs tend to be viewed as shy or reserved, only spending time with a select few people.

Sensing

The sensing–intuitive dimension considers how one gains and uses information. Sensing individuals tend to live in the moment, focusing on stimuli that are currently around them. Such stimuli feel more real to them.

In this way, ISFPs tend to dislike explanations that require high-level inference and tend to be more focused on solid facts and the present.

Feeling

The thinking–feeling dimension is exactly what it sounds like. Do you use your head or your heart to make decisions? Feeling individuals tend to be driven by their emotions and gut feelings. They’re also often more concerned with people than logic, which pushes them toward kindness. They tend to be overly concerned with others' feelings, sometimes to the point that it gets in the way of their own goals.

Perceiving

The judging–perceiving dimension is a little harder to understand and concerns how you like to live your life and express yourself. Perceiving types such as the ISFP tend to live life flexibly and adapt to anything life throws at them. They often leave decisions open for longer periods and take spontaneous and impulsive actions.

In combination, these traits make the ISFP gentle, shy and creative. They’re often great friends and highly passionate. However, they can be a little impulsive and follow their hearts rather than their heads.

What are some anime characters with the ISFP personality type?

ISFP individuals are varied and immensely interesting, and thus have been included in some of the best anime. Below are a few of the many examples.

Zuko

From Avatar: The Last Airbender

Prince Zuko, from the popular movie and TV franchise Avatar, is an excellent example of an ISFP. He’s a moody reserved type who springs to action often without thinking. Despite his quiet and introverted nature, he feels very deeply and is driven to put the needs of others above his own (especially later in the show), all of which are characteristic of an ISFP.

Ojiro Mashirao

From My Hero Academia

Unlike Zuko, Ojiro is a more peaceful ISFP. He shows introverted tendencies and leans toward a calm and quiet approach to conflict. He also feels rather deeply but keeps these feelings inside. He’s a fantastic listener, despite being seemingly absent in the show.

Nana Osaki

From Nana

Nana is a quiet and often intimidating character. However, she feels deeply and is rather compassionate, which is demonstrated through her almost instant connection with the other Nana (Hachiko). This introversion and compassion, in combination with her creativity as a singer in a punk rock band, make Nana an excellent ISFP character.

Eren Yeager

From Attack on Titan

The famous Eren Yeager, a main character from the hit series Attack on Titan, is yet another ISFP. He’s rather stoic and impulsive, often acting based on his emotions and without checking with others. As an ISFP, he’s passionate and unpredictable; however, he tends to be shy and introverted.

Haruka Nanase

From Free!

Haruka is through and through an ISFP, especially in terms of living in the moment. He rarely plans for the future and can be rather impulsive. His additional introversion, passion for the water, and for protecting his friends even further confirms his ISFP status.

Inuyasha

From Inuyasha

Despite Inuyasha's tough exterior, he’s extremely caring, a characteristic of an ISFP. He tends to focus on the here and now, acting with impulse in many of his battles and purely reacting to the stimuli around him. His demon side also makes him very attentive to his senses and feelings.

Uta

From Tokyo Ghoul

Uta are extremely creative individuals, as seen by their crafting of ghoul masks. They are rather aesthetic and passionate like other ISFPs. Their introverted and observant and caring nature also shines throughout the series.

Ai Ohto

From Wonder Egg Priority

Ai Ohto is a unique individual with a sense of creative flare. She’s passionate and shows her emotional side frequently. Her immense care for others is also shown through her inner drive to save others and bring her friend back from the dead. Her passion and kindness embody the ISFP nature.

Akira Fudo

From Devilman Crybaby

Akira is an empathetic and compassionate character with immense concern for others. Such sensitivity can sometimes be troublesome for Akira as he finds himself in some dangerous situations to defend those he cares about. Despite his passion for defeating evil, as an ISFP, he can still see love in his worst enemies.
